Five colors, endless possibilities. Select a color to copy its HEX.
A subdued evening journal palette with deep plum, pale grey-white, sage-grey entry panels, dusty lavender prompts, and charcoal history groups.
The feeling
A quiet evening journal in deep plum, pebble sage, dusty lavender, and charcoal
Explore this palette ↓Smooth pebbles rest beside an open journal as the room grows dim. Deep plum surrounds quiet sage-grey pages, dusty lavender marks a prompt, and charcoal gathers earlier notes into a low-key evening rhythm.
Journal Mist carries the main reading layer. Evening Plum sets the app shell, Pebble Sage holds current entries, Prompt Lavender frames writing cues, and Archive Charcoal groups earlier notes.
Use Evening Plum for the journal canvas with Journal Mist for navigation, dates, and entry headings. Set the current entry and note list on Pebble Sage panels with Archive Charcoal text.
Use Prompt Lavender for prompt cards with Archive Charcoal text. Group earlier entries on Archive Charcoal with Journal Mist text, adding a sage border where the charcoal meets plum. The 44/36/20 surface balance gives entries the largest secondary area and keeps prompts intentionally smaller.
Journal Mist reaches about 12.60:1 on Evening Plum and 11.00:1 on Archive Charcoal. It does not pass on Pebble Sage at about 1.87:1 or Prompt Lavender at 2.33:1. Use Archive Charcoal text there instead, at about 5.88:1 and 4.73:1.
Archive Charcoal and Evening Plum are only about 1.15:1 apart, while Pebble Sage and Prompt Lavender are about 1.24:1. Do not rely on those pairs for boundaries, dates, or entry states. Use a sage outline around charcoal history groups and repeat current, saved, and earlier states with labels or icons.
A considered balance
Use Evening Plum for the app shell with Journal Mist for main text. Use Pebble Sage for current entries and Prompt Lavender for journal prompts, both with Archive Charcoal text. Use Archive Charcoal for earlier-entry groups with Journal Mist text and a Pebble Sage boundary.
Start with a generous background, introduce your primary color, then use the highlight sparingly. The ratios are a guide for large surfaces, not a fixed recipe.

Focal areas & key details
Background · Primary · Highlight. Use text and accent colors where their roles call for them.
Recommended text on primary
The original text has low contrast (1.87:1). This example uses Evening Plum (#3A2236) from the same palette instead of #F1F0EC on #A9B5A6, improving contrast to 6.74:1. This meets WCAG AA for normal text.
Recommended text on highlight
The original text has low contrast (2.33:1). This example uses Evening Plum (#3A2236) from the same palette instead of #F1F0EC on #B097B2, improving contrast to 5.41:1. This meets WCAG AA for normal text.
Contrast is calculated for these specific pairs. Large text means at least 24 px regular or about 18.7 px bold. Check every pairing in your final design.
