Five colors, endless possibilities. Select a color to copy its HEX.
An industrial all-season dashboard palette of coated steel, near-black ink, pale metal, vivid green, and violet for workshop queues and handoffs.
The feeling
Coated steel, machined edges, a labeled batch signal, and a time-stamped workshop handoff
Explore this palette ↓A coated-steel board holds the next machine queue in a compact workshop. Stamp Black gives timestamps, part names, and handoff details a direct operational voice, while Finished Metal opens a pale surface for the completed batch.
Signal Green marks one completed state as a vivid labeled panel. Handoff Violet separates the next-owner card, and Steel Deck keeps the queue grounded in a practical machined-gray field.
Use Steel Deck for the dashboard field and Stamp Black for headings, queue labels, timestamps, and status text. Finished Metal can form completed-batch and parts-tray panels carrying Stamp Black, while Signal Green can hold a completed label with the same dark text.
Use Handoff Violet as a time-stamped handoff-card surface carrying Stamp Black; do not use violet as small text on steel. Begin with 58% Steel Deck, 29% Finished Metal, and 13% Signal Green, then keep violet limited to ownership transfer.
Stamp Black reaches 5.05:1 on Steel Deck, 12.68:1 on Finished Metal, 8.66:1 on Signal Green, and 4.57:1 on Handoff Violet. All four pairs pass normal-size AA, though black on violet sits close to the threshold and requires the original HEX values at full opacity.
Handoff Violet and Steel Deck are only 1.10:1 apart, while Signal Green and Steel Deck are 1.71:1. Use dark rules, distinct shapes, and written states for queue, completion, and ownership; color alone must not carry an operational signal.
A considered balance
Use Steel Deck for the dashboard, Stamp Black for essential copy, Finished Metal for completed-batch and tray panels, Signal Green as a labeled completion surface, and Handoff Violet as a next-owner card carrying Stamp Black. Never rely on color alone for machine state.
Start with a generous background, introduce your primary color, then use the highlight sparingly. The ratios are a guide for large surfaces, not a fixed recipe.

Background · Primary · Highlight. Use text and accent colors where their roles call for them.
Contrast is calculated for these specific pairs. Large text means at least 24 px regular or about 18.7 px bold. Check every pairing in your final design.

Text: Stamp Black #17191A Primary: Finished Metal #D9DBDA Highlight: Signal Green #32D05B Accent: Handoff Violet #9574B5 Background: Steel Deck #858A8C Mood: Coated steel, machined edges, a labeled batch signal, and a time-stamped workshop handoff Suggested uses: Data dashboards Application note: Use Steel Deck for the dashboard, Stamp Black for essential copy, Finished Metal for completed-batch and tray panels, Signal Green as a labeled completion surface, and Handoff Violet as a next-owner card carrying Stamp Black. Never rely on color alone for machine state. Avoid: All four Stamp Black text pairs pass normal-size AA, but Handoff Violet is close at 4.57:1 and requires the original HEX values at full opacity. Handoff Violet and Steel Deck are only 1.10:1 apart, so operational states need labels, shapes, and dark boundaries. Use approximately 58% background, 29% primary, and 13% highlight across large surfaces. These ratios are a starting point, not a rigid rule. Use text and accent colors according to their roles. Keep the original HEX values. Choose readable text/background pairings without silently changing the palette. Do not introduce unrelated colors.

Text/background contrast: 5.05:1. This is one measured pair, not a guarantee for the whole palette. Check every actual text/background pairing against WCAG AA. Prefer readable combinations from the original colors, keep visible keyboard focus, and never communicate state through color alone. If no original pairing meets the requirement, propose a separately labeled derived color with its original HEX, proposed HEX, purpose and measured contrast. Never overwrite the source palette.
This guide preserves the original HEX values. Review the output before using it.
