The mood

Deep raspberry turns a stack of comic proofs into a vivid small-press identity. Ivory lettering and near-black eggplant keep the artwork grounded, while golden yellow and clear cyan bring decisive flashes to approval and print choices.

How to use it

Raspberry Run carries the service introduction and creator-detail form with Paper Ivory text. Show comic preview pages inside Ink Eggplant with ivory captions and a thin ivory frame. Approval Gold marks the chosen proof and its labeled “Approved” action; Print Cyan holds format and paper-option cards. Both bright surfaces use eggplant text and sit separately on raspberry. Start with 46% raspberry, 36% eggplant, and 18% gold, keeping cyan for the print-choice step.

What to watch

Paper Ivory reads on Raspberry Run at about 6.81:1 and Ink Eggplant at 16.12:1, but not on Approval Gold or Print Cyan at about 1.30:1 and 1.45:1. Ink Eggplant reads on those bright colors at about 12.38:1 and 11.11:1. Eggplant meets raspberry at only 2.37:1, so the ivory frame separates them with 16.12:1 on the inside and 6.81:1 on the outside. Gold and cyan are only 1.11:1 apart; keep them in separate areas and write out every print choice and proof state.

A considered balance

Make room for
the right colors.

Use Raspberry Run with Paper Ivory for the introduction and creator details. Place previews on Ink Eggplant with ivory captions and frames. Use Approval Gold for the labeled proof decision and Print Cyan for print options, both with eggplant text and separated on the raspberry field.

Start with a generous background, introduce your primary color, then use the highlight sparingly. The ratios are a guide for large surfaces, not a fixed recipe.

Background · Primary · Highlight. Use text and accent colors where their roles call for them.

Text on background
6.81:1 #FFF4D8 on #A70B53 · AA normal text
Text on primary
16.12:1 #FFF4D8 on #241321 · AAA normal text
Text on highlight
1.30:1 #FFF4D8 on #FFD43B · Not suitable for text

The original text has low contrast (1.30:1). This example uses Ink Eggplant (#241321) from the same palette instead of #FFF4D8 on #FFD43B, improving contrast to 12.38:1. This meets WCAG AA for normal text.

Text on accent
1.45:1 #FFF4D8 on #76DCEC · Not suitable for text

The original text has low contrast (1.45:1). This example uses Ink Eggplant (#241321) from the same palette instead of #FFF4D8 on #76DCEC, improving contrast to 11.11:1. This meets WCAG AA for normal text.

Contrast is calculated for these specific pairs. Large text means at least 24 px regular or about 18.7 px bold. Check every pairing in your final design.

COLOR NOTE

Do not use Paper Ivory text on Approval Gold or Print Cyan; the ratios are about 1.30:1 and 1.45:1. Use Ink Eggplant text there at about 12.38:1 and 11.11:1. Frame eggplant previews with ivory before they meet raspberry, and keep gold and cyan areas separate.

Text/background contrast: 6.81:1. This is one measured pair, not a guarantee for the whole palette. Check every actual text/background pairing against WCAG AA. Prefer readable combinations from the original colors, keep visible keyboard focus, and never communicate state through color alone. If no original pairing meets the requirement, propose a separately labeled derived color with its original HEX, proposed HEX, purpose and measured contrast. Never overwrite the source palette.

This guide preserves the original HEX values. Review the output before using it.
