The mood

A shaded terrace looks across dry summer hills while sun warms the stone beyond. Deep moss cools the view, straw recalls woven blinds, pale clay carries the terrace light, and a small plum detail gives the quiet scene a precise focal point.

Inn Ivory provides the main reading layer. Terrace Moss sets the surrounding field, Woven Straw holds room choices, Plum Seal marks focused booking controls, and Sunlit Clay supports arrival information.

How to use it

Use Terrace Moss for the page canvas with Inn Ivory for the inn name, introduction, and navigation. Give Woven Straw substantial room-choice panels with Terrace Moss text, including room names, occupancy, and included features.

Use Plum Seal sparingly for the booking action or selected room with Inn Ivory lettering. Place directions, arrival time, and check-in notes on Sunlit Clay with Terrace Moss text. The 52/33/15 surface balance keeps the terrace shaded, makes room choices prominent, and reserves plum for focus.

What to watch

Inn Ivory reaches about 10.21:1 on Terrace Moss and 10.47:1 on Plum Seal. It does not pass on Woven Straw at about 1.91:1 or Sunlit Clay at 1.50:1; use Terrace Moss text there instead, at about 5.35:1 and 6.80:1.

Woven Straw and Sunlit Clay are only about 1.27:1 apart, while Plum Seal and Terrace Moss are about 1.03:1. Do not use these pairs for text, icons, borders, or room status. Separate them with ivory space or a strong contrasting outline, and repeat booking states with words or symbols.

A considered balance

Make room for
the right colors.

Use Terrace Moss as the inn canvas with Inn Ivory for main text. Use Woven Straw for substantial room panels and Sunlit Clay for arrival notes, both with Terrace Moss text. Reserve Plum Seal for selected-room or booking controls with Inn Ivory lettering.

Start with a generous background, introduce your primary color, then use the highlight sparingly. The ratios are a guide for large surfaces, not a fixed recipe.

Text on background
10.21:1 #F4EAD4 on #263A2A · AAA normal text
Text on primary
1.91:1 #F4EAD4 on #C8A85D · Not suitable for text

The original text has low contrast (1.91:1). This example uses Plum Seal (#4D273F) from the same palette instead of #F4EAD4 on #C8A85D, improving contrast to 5.49:1. This meets WCAG AA for normal text.

Text on highlight
10.47:1 #F4EAD4 on #4D273F · AAA normal text
Text on accent
1.50:1 #F4EAD4 on #E2B9A4 · Not suitable for text

The original text has low contrast (1.50:1). This example uses Plum Seal (#4D273F) from the same palette instead of #F4EAD4 on #E2B9A4, improving contrast to 6.98:1. This meets WCAG AA for normal text.

Contrast is calculated for these specific pairs. Large text means at least 24 px regular or about 18.7 px bold. Check every pairing in your final design.

Text/background contrast: 10.21:1. This is one measured pair, not a guarantee for the whole palette. Check every actual text/background pairing against WCAG AA. Prefer readable combinations from the original colors, keep visible keyboard focus, and never communicate state through color alone. If no original pairing meets the requirement, propose a separately labeled derived color with its original HEX, proposed HEX, purpose and measured contrast. Never overwrite the source palette.

This guide preserves the original HEX values. Review the output before using it.
